Tutorial: Inserting Images in your LSNet Submissions

1.  Login using your LSNet username and password.

2.  Select "Create Content" and for content type, choose "Image."  When the Create Image page appears, give your image a title.

3. Choose from the list of image galleries with the appropriate tag(s). For example, I saved this image at left in the image galleries "Humor", "Children", "History", and "Books."  Hold down the "SHIFT" key to select multiple galleries.

4.  Hit the Browse button, search your computer for the image you want, and upload it to the LSNet server.  Remember your image filename so that you can find it on the server later.

5.  Make sure the "Promote to Front Page" option under "Publishing Options" at the bottom is unchecked, unless you want to publish only an image to the web site with no text!  Click "Submit."

6.  Select "Create content" again, choose Blog, Story, or Page, depending on what you're submitting.

7.  Open Rich Text Editor (Fckeditor program) and put all of your text in the box, either by directly entering it or by cutting-and-pasting it from somewhere else.  When you are finished:

8.  Click the little postcard on the FCKEditor toolbar, "Insert/Edit Image."

Ethernet Aliasing for Fun and Wireless Survival

I had a small Technical Epiphany the other day that I wanted to share. I got Ethernet Aliasing to work with Ubuntu Gutsy Linux and it turns out to be quite simple in retrospect. Why might you want to do such a thing? In my case, to tweak my Wireless settings while I used the Internet. My Buffalo AirStation Wireless Bridge was working poorly and I needed status to help debug it. I really wanted to access two different IP networks, without routing, on the same physical wire at the same time without buying a new Ethernet card - which in the dark past would have been the "proper" way to do this.

A memorable view -

DrupalCamp : Views

Drupal is modular. A basic Drupal site is quite capable. Modules extend basic Drupal sites with optional functionality. Enabling views makes Drupal sites exciting!

At first blush, views can intimidate. Fear of views is common; even Drupal architects must develop their love for views … and there's so much to love!

LSNet Drupal Camp Fun and Helpful

I attended the drupal camp today and it was well worth the time and monetary investment. The instructors had set up terminals and those of us with our wireless laptops were connected easily! After giving us some general instructions and having us practice create some content for the LSNet home page, we were each allowed to follow our own needs, goals and interests and got individualized help. I was able to meet my learning goals for the day, plus some. I've returned home now with many ideas and tools for continuing to apply what I've learned to improve my web presence.

Way to go, LSNet team!
