Four years ago, I got a call from a neighbor up the road.

He said “I just got a used computer from the Wythe County auction” and would I look at it for him. I am a helpful type, so I said sure. I had to put a hard drive in it to make it work and took it over. He had a place prepared in a little office area and I set it up. “Why did you get an older computer” I had to ask. He replied “So I don’t tear up a new one”. I got to hear the story of his family and friends talking about eBay and all of the items that he would find on the internet. He told me about his farm and the broken equipment he could get parts for and the working machinery he could sell if he was no longer using it. I showed him how to look up tractor parts and he got all excited! They were much cheaper than ordering through a dealer.

I thought about this and had to ask “Paul, how old are you?” “Ninety-two next February”.

I love that line. Such attitude opens many doors.
