George Ryan goes to Oxford (Wisconsin)

I have a soft spot in my head and heart for George Ryan. He recently arrived (November 7th) at Oxford Prison, convicted of corruption (the evidence is considerable even though the principal prosecution witness said he had his head in a vise). Oxford was built during my residence in Adams County Wisconsin in the 70s.

Illinois has a tradition of incarcerating politicians. It has shipped several of them to Wisconsin, one of the most famous being Dan Rostenkowski. Now they are building a prison in my county of current residence. I wonder if my luck will continue. Bill pardoned Dan. I hope that George will pardon George.

Many accuse George of manipulating his heritage by commuting the death sentences of 167 on Illinois' death row. I see it as a man seeking Redemption. The spirit of a man is diminshed by retribution. Restoration is the only goal that will lead our souls to Peace.
