GMail - IMAP - Thunderbird
IMAP has arrived for GMail. The neat things about IMAP are folders and synchronization between multiple client machines. N.B. You must use the web based access to train your SPAM filter and to resolve issues. IMAP for GMail is new and there will be bumps. I tried it with Evolution and it was extremely slow. It seems to be working fine with Thunderbird. I don't use Microsoft mail clients. You can download Thunderbird for Windows from here.
Once you are emotionally and intellectual prepared for this "excellent adventure" -
Click Settings on the upper right of your LSNet - GMail page, then Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
The third panel down says "IMAP Access". Go ahead and "enable IMAP" and then "Configuration instructions". LSNet provides "free" support via email for Thunderbird 2.0. We provide fee based support ($) for the rest.
In the configuration, substitute your_user_name@ls.net for username@gmail.com. Pay careful attention to the port numbers and encryption types. One mistake and it will not work.
These instructions are intentionally terse. If, after reflection, you find them to be too terse, click "Contact" on the "Site Navigation" menu to the left and send us your comments or questions.
