There are certain things which are risky to do. One of them is playing with fire(walls). I was trying to forward some traffic for my current tech (risky behavior #2) when I lost contact with the router for the TWR network.
Of course, the prudent thing to do is make a backup which I had done. But if you can't get to the device you are attempting to restore, you are in deep doo-doo.
Fortunately, the device (a technical term used during one of the cold wars to refer to a bomb) is powered through an IP connected power switch. Time for risky behavior #3 - bounce the device. Bounce being another technical term for power-down && power-up. Normally a basketball term, but this is more like a football term as in the briefcase containing the nuclear codes (risky behavior #4).
So I managed to snatch a few seconds from the doomsday clock and I get to try again tonight. At least I don't have to wait four years.
