The Roof of VA, Grayson County?
While I was on the phone waiting for my cell phone provider to fix an issue with my phone the customer service rep asked me if i knew what was the highest mountain in VA was ????? kind of a strange question i admit when I asked why the rep told me she was trying to go to school to be a geologist, I explained that i really didn't know. this prompted me to go on line to find out the answer and to my surprise i have discovered that Grayson county has the distinct privilege to be called The Roof of VA, with Mount Rogers being the Highest mountain in VA, at 5,729 feet Grayson county is also home to the 2nd 3rd and 4th highest peaks in VA they are
Mount Rogers 5,729
Pine Mountain 5,526
Whitetop Mt 5,520
Haw orchard Mt 5,080
not only does Grayson county have the highest mountains we are also blessed with 27 other mountains over 4,000 feet tall, now on the site I found the information discusses what do you really consider a mountain or a hill, my personal opinion, all the places they consider to be mountains are mountains, height is everything and our mountains have the heights.
Now I’m sure a few of you might already know this but I thought it would be cool to tell everyone on the site this interesting fact, and to also ask why Grayson county does not use this information to its advantage?
