UNC-TV and MCNC Present…PublicMediaCampNC
North Carolina’s First Interactive Public Media Unconference

On Friday, August 20, 2010, UNC-TV will partner with MCNC to host North Carolina’s first-ever PublicMediaCamp (PubCampNC). PublicMediaCampNC will take place from 10 AM-4 PM at MCNC’s Research Triangle Park’s facility [3021 E. Cornwallis Road, Research Triangle Park, NC 27709-2889]. Event check-in will begin at 9 AM.

Based on the national PublicMediaCamp (PubCamp) initiative and incorporating the theme of “strengthening public media’s relationship with the public through the creation of collaborative projects,” PubCampNC will employ an unconference format: allowing participants to plan their own conference sessions and schedule the day of the event.

Using online tools, including wikis, blogs, social media and video streaming, the August 20 event will bring together an array of diverse groups with the state’s public media organizations and beyond. Nearly 100 invited guests will include members from North Carolina’s university and community college systems, public broadcasting and communications organizations, community organizers and activists, local non-profits, and technology firms—all coming together for the common purpose of community engagement and state-of-the-art interaction.
