New job, New opportunities
Hello, my name is Miranda Holdaway, today is my first day at LSNet. I'm enrolled in an internship program that gives me this great chance to gain the exp. I need. I'm very excited and anxious. I feel this job is going to be a great new learning opportunity. I have many goals in life, my main one is to pursue a career in computers. Computers are my passion. The staff here is very welcoming and knowledgeable. I look forward to getting the professional exp. that I desire. It will be great opportunity to build my knowledge of computers, and learn all the fascinating things you can do with them. I also plan to attend college soon, and get my certifications for the desired occupation of my choice. A big thanks to LSNet for this opportunity to succeed.

Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
Have fun
As an old intern to a new one, have fun. If you really push yourself, you can end up with the better part of a computer science degree in your head before you go to college.
I'll pass on one of the formative moments of my time there: I was learning about unix permissions. Jim said, "These are encoded in octal." I tried to say, "But I don't know octal," and he almost shouted at me, "I'm telling you what it is now!" and did in about three sentences. Wiring my brain so I understood it was my problem.
And to completely slaughter your social life and evenings: mitpress.mit.edu/sicp/ (or www.htdp.org if that seems to rough at first). Ignore Jim when he tells you to learn ALGOL 68, though. I've decided that's sinfully large. Learn ALGOL W.
Learning new things.
Thank you so much for your advice! I do not currently know what octal is, but that just gave me an idea of something else to learn. I really enjoy learning new things, especially when it involves computers. I'm enjoying this internship to a great deal, it has taught me a lot in only two days. Even though i only have six weeks, I feel I will acquire a great deal in that time. I've realized there is so many more levels to computer knowledge than what I previously expected. However, I look forward to the future, and what it may bring!
