Highland Camerata to Sponsor The Elon Phoenix Piano Trio 

      Victoria Fischer Faw with The Elon Phoenix Piano Trio from Elon University will be in concert at Brush Creek Hall on Saturday, April 24 at 3:00 in the afternoon.  Brush Creek Hall, home of the Highland Camerata, is located two miles south of Independence, VA on Route 21.

      The Elon Phoenix Trio was founded in 2008. The trio’s goal is excellence in the presentation of chamber music to the community through performances, school presentations, and lecture recitals. Members of the trio are Victoria Fischer Faw on piano, Dan Skidmore on violin, and Meaghan Skogen on Cello.  They will play selections from Bela Bartok, Franz Joseph Hayden, Maurice Ravel and Felix Mendelssohn.

      Skogen is on the faculty at Elon University as an instructor of cello and music theory. Ms. Skogen has given recitals on both coasts and has performed with the Chapman University Chamber Orchestra and the Santiago Strings.

      Skidmore teaches violin and viola at Elon University and Catawba College. He performs regularly as concertmaster of the Salisbury Symphony, assistant concertmaster of the Winston-Salem Symphony, and performs with the Greensboro Symphony.

      Fischer is in her twentieth year on the music faculty at Elon University, and has served as Visiting Professor at Aristotle University in Greece and at the University of Belize.  Dr. Fischer specializes in the music of Bela Bartok and has won numerous piano competitions.

      The concert is free and open to the public; however, donations, which help to carry on the work of The Highland Camerata, will be appreciated. Refreshments will be served following the concert.  Go to www.highlandcamerata.org for additional information.
